Fountain "Barmaley" space painting, plexiglass/oil, 205x305 cm., for the "Casus Pacis," street art museum, Manifesta 10, Saint-Petersburg, 2014
The famous photo 1942 Fountain "Barmaley" photographer Yevzerikhin E.N. after the bombing of Stalingrad is split into fragments by means of spatial painting. In July 2013 the fountain was restored. At the end of 2013 in Volgograd, in my town, there were three terrorist attacks. The second of them thundered in building the railway station. 16 people died. Today the fountain is not only a symbol of opposition to the German Nazis in World War II, but also mourning the place where lay flowers in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack. The first act of terrorism has been an explosion of three bus №29, which killed 6 people and in which I almost 5 years went to university, so for me it's a personal story. Today the attacks have largely replaced direct military action - they are also able to destroy, demoralize, keep in a panic the whole city. This is a new kind of war in peace.
